How to Make a Folding-Shape Mask

A folding-shape mask has to be the most aesthetically pleasing mask you'll ever own. It's not only a pretty piece of kit, but it is also a great way to improve your visibility and breathing capabilities. The good news is, it's not as hard as you think to create one of your own.

There are many ways to do it. You can choose to assemble a folding mask from scratch using a fabric or cotton. Or you can try your hand at a more traditional method, which involves using a pipe cleaner. Depending on the type of fabric you choose, you can even decorate it. Here are some tips to help you along.

The most efficient way to make a folding-shape mask is to use a standard pair of scissors to cut the fabric into two equal parts. To do this, make sure that the edges of both parts are straight and aligned, preferably along the centerline. For maximum comfort, it's best to use a soft, elastic fabric. This type of mask is ideal for any application that requires close eye contact, such as manufacturing, cleaning, or painting.

While you are at it, try not to cut off too much of the cloth. When you're finished, fold the rest of the fabric into a "trim" and tuck the ends under the nose flap. In a pinch, you can also use a clip to hold it in place. And, as you'll see in the next section, this is actually a better option.

For a truly impressive mask, you might want to consider the Respair(r) Model X, which is manufactured under ISO9001 standards and is made of acupuncture cotton. Although it's not a fancy piece of kit, the mask has some noteworthy features, such as an embedded lanyard and an adjustable nose strip. Also, its plastic/metal nose clip can reduce moisture buildup. However, you won't be able to use this mask for long if you're looking to perform a marathon.

Of course, you could also go the disposable respirator route. Disposable respirator masks are available in a variety of designs, including the C-SERIES and the alphamesh A-Series. They are designed to promote easier breathing and to minimize the risk of contamination. These masks come in individual polybags for easy storage. But, they aren't for everyone. Besides, the N95 face mask is a more appropriate choice, particularly if you work in a highly contaminated area or you have small children with very sensitive eyes.

The MakerMask: Origami (Beta) is also a good choice, because it's one of the more advanced and functional models, which can be adjusted for size and color. With a few simple steps, you'll have a custom-fitted, stand-alone mask. Other features include an easy-to-follow pattern, no central mask seams, and extra space around the nose. Alternatively, you can purchase an adjustable-headband version. Regardless of the model you choose, you can be assured that this is a quality mask. Using this product will keep you healthy, safe, and happy.
